Vignalunga 2017 – 96 Points Decanter

“Sweet fruit, strawberries and raspberries, in detail and depth. On the palate it is elegant, well balanced with oak notes pleasantly integrated into the body. Long and full finish”: these are the characteristics recognized in the Vignalunga 2017 Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG which, with 96 points, won the Gold Medal of the prestigious international competition Decanter World Wine Awards 2023.

A long-lasting wine, which improves with time, Vignalunga is obtained from grapes harvested in the first fortnight of October, vinified with indigenous yeasts selected by the University of Perugia. After alcoholic fermentation for approximately 15 days and maceration for 20 days, it refines on its own yeasts for at least 6 months. Aged in french oak tonneaux for 24 months and in bottle for at least 6 months.

After the 97 points and the Best in Show of our Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG 2016, this is another result that gratifies us greatly and rewards our constant work of valorising the native varieties and the Umbrian territory, respecting the wonderful land that hosts us and of which we are custodians. Vignalunga is the expression of a single vineyard, our best Sagrantino CRU, a wine of great structure and colour, suitable for long refinements in the bottle, the jewel in the crown of our production, certified organic for over 30 years.

During the twentieth edition of the Decanter World Wine Awards, 18.250 wines were tasted, coming from 57 countries around the world. 125 won the platinum medal, 705 the gold medal, 5.604 the silver medal and 8.165 the bronze one, as well as 50 best in show.
